This festival started about 25 years ago to express thanks to the blessings of nature and to pray for further development of Kumano Hongu Onsen (Kawayu,Yunomine and Wataze).
Shinto priests of Kumano Hongu Taisha perform solemn Shinto rituals, and inns and guesthouse owners and concerned people offer the day’s first onsen water.
